Personal:
Casey Burkhardt is a graduate student at Villanova University with a passion for technology. This past summer, he participated in his third software engineering internship at Google, where he worked on making Android mobile devices more accessible for users with low vision. He’s also worked on simulation data management at NASA’s largest rocket engine test facility, the John C. Stennis Space Center, located in Hancock County, Mississippi. Besides technology, he loves music and has played the cello in the Villanova orchestra. Casey, who is legally blind, was diagnosed with oculocutaneous albinism with nystagmus at birth. In 2008, he was the Undergraduate Award winner at Lighthouse International’s Scholarship and Career Awards, which recognizes outstanding students who have overcome the challenges of vision loss.

Why I'm Riding:
“I’m enthusiastic about raising awareness and funds for Lighthouse International’s programs [to fight vision loss].”
