Our newest performance ensemble - One 11 East! An eclectic group performing folk, rock and popular styles, this ensemble promises to deliver an hour of oldies and goodies.
Presenting Lighthouse International's Music Classes from the CMPYP

Join us as students from the Comprehensive Music Program for Young People (CMPYP) present performances featuring:
- Percussion Ensemble
- Recorder Class
- Children's Chorus
- "Carnival of Animals" - featuring songs and movement complete with costumes and sets created by the students.
STUDENTS IN THE COMMUNITY:
- Voice Student, Frank Senior (who's newest CD "Let me be Frank" can be found on CDBaby.com) will be performing in Las Vegas from April through June.
- Music School student, Julianna Reala was the winner in the 8-9 year old division of the Braille Challenge tests. (interpretation, punctuation, spelling, literacy). This is part of the Braille Institute, a private non-profit organization whose mission is to eliminate blindness and severe sight loss as a barrier to a fulfilling life.
- Yerko Difonis, a piano student in the Comprehensive Music Program for Young People, at Lighthouse International,has been selected from among thousands of gifted and talented applicants for admission to La Guardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts. In addition, he works in our Music Technology lab with Sonar software producing his own arrangements of pieces. Yerko was also accepted as part of the Middle School Jazz Academy at Lincoln Center for two consecutive years.
- Daniel Gillen, an eighth grader in the CMPYP and currently at East Side Middle School, was accepted into The Beacon High School. It was his first choice and both he and his parents are ecstatic.
FACULTY NEWS
- Singing Voice Specialist, Charlotte Surkin, will be giving a lecture at Teachers College, Columbia University through the New York Singing Teachers' Association, (NYSTA.org) on the subject of teaching singing to people with visual impairments. This lecture will be video recorded through the Internet and can be taken for academic credit through Westminster Choir College in Princeton, New Jersey.)

RECENT EVENTS
Jazz with a Side Order of Lunch
On Friday, April 25th the Lighthouse Jazz Ensemble performed for a lunchtime crowd in BV Hall.
Master Class with Performance/Acting Coach, Bill Daugherty.
Mr. Daugherty is a singer, actor and director who teaches at New York University's musical theater department, CAP21, as well as performing in his own off Broadway show. He worked with our soloists for the Metropolitan Museum Concert.
Students from the Lighthouse Music School performed at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in a concert entitled "The Artistic Spirit" at the Temple of Dendur in the Sackler Wing of the Metropolitan Museum of Art on Friday, April 4th.
