What is the time commitment for volunteering with Lighthouse International?

On average, volunteers serve about 4 hours a week. However, time commitments can vary depending on which area or program you are involved with.

The majority of our volunteers are over 18. We also welcome teens, 16 and up, and place them on projects on a case by case basis.

What is the process for becoming a volunteer?

  • The first step towards becoming a Lighthouse volunteer is to review our website. We want to ensure that your needs as a volunteer are consistent with the opportunities here at the Lighthouse.
  • Fill out our online application.
  • After we receive your application, we’ll contact you to schedule an interview.
  • During your interview we’ll discuss your areas of interest. You'll be able to sign up for an opportunity if there is currently one available.

Currently, volunteer opportunities are located in our New York City headquarters with some limited need for assistance in Palm Beach, Florida.

Individuals who are visiting NYC from outside the US, with appropriate documentation, are also welcome to volunteer. At present, we do not facilitate help with Visas or documentation.
