HBO Documentary Films And Lighthouse International Host New York Screening Of Gary Tarn's Black Sun

WHO: Subject Hugues de Montalembert and director Gary Tarn

WHAT: In 1978, Hugues de Montalembert was a French painter and filmmaker living in New York's Greenwich Village. One night, two burglars attacked him in his home, blinding him when one of them threw paint remover in his face. In BLACK SUN, de Montalembert narrates the story of that terrible incident, his services from Lighthouse International, his recovery and the aftermath. Combining de Montalembert's words with evocative images and a pulsating original score, the film explores what it was like to suddenly lose one's sight (he confesses he had never met a blind person before going blind himself), and how he eventually came to terms with his loss of vision and the physical and emotional pain surrounding it.
