Lighthouse International special events afford a unique opportunity to mingle with colleagues and business associates, meet new friends and, at the same time support the programs of Lighthouse International, a leading resource worldwide on vision impairment and Vision Rehabilitation

Throughout the year Lighthouse International hosts many exciting events. Here are a few we hope you will attend:

  • The Dorothy Strelsin Authors Series -- Bringing together people of all ages in the spirit of reading and literacy: This Lighthouse program is an exciting new venture, bringing together people of all ages in the spirit of reading and literacy. Join us on Wednesday, May 7, 2008, as the New York Times Metro reporter, Jennifer 8. Lee, discusses her new book; The Fortune Cookie Chronicles: Adventures in the World of Chinese Food.

  • POSH® Fashion: Lighthouse International's legendary POSH® Sale has been a Manhattan fashion tradition for 35 years -the annual shopping destination for the fashion savvy. This year's sale will take place from Wednesday, May 14 - Saturday, May 17. For more information, or to purchase tickets, click here.

  • Catherine Kramer Concert Series: Join the Lighthouse's newest performance ensemble, One 11 East on Tuesday, May 20, 2008 as One 11 East Plays 111 East! An eclectic group performing folk, rock and popular styles, this ensemble promises to deliver an hour of golden oldies and goodies. For more details, click here.

  • Aging Gracefully with Changing Vision: As a member of the NYC Coalition on Aging and Vision, Lighthouse International invites you to this exciting symposium on June 17, 2008.

  • Scholarships and Career Awards: For over a quarter of a century, the Lighthouse has awarded scholarships to outstanding students with vision impairment who are pursuing higher education. On June 18, 2008, the Lighthouse will honor this year's group of deserving individuals.

  • Golf Classic: One of our most popular annual events, the Golf Classic and Dinner provides a day of challenging golf, spectacular countryside views and exceptional service amenities. The golf tournament is hosted at the majestic Old Oaks Country Club, in Purchase, New York -- 25 miles north of Manhattan, and will be held on Monday, June 30, 2008.

  • Pisart Award: This prestigious prize is awarded to an individual who has made a noteworthy contribution to the prevention, cure or treatment of severe vision impairment or blindness. The award ceremony will be held in the fall of 2008. For more information or to nominate an individual, please click here. Nominations are due by August 1, 2008.

  • Henry A. Grunwald Award for Public Service Luncheon: The Henry A. Grunwald Award recognizes an individual who is committed to advancing causes that benefit society overall and to advancing public awareness of vision impairment and vision rehabilitation in particular. The 2008 award luncheon will be taking place on October 7, 2008 and will be honoring Steve and Elaine Wynn; as well as John Richardson, noted author and Picasso biographer.

  • Light Years Gala: The Lighthouse Salutes the Arts: At the 2008 annual gala, we will pay tribute to four stars that are light years ahead in music, film, fashion and interior design: Mario Buatta, Michael Feinstein and Katherine Oliver, to date. This year's gala will be held on October 20, 2008.

  • POSH® Interiors Sale: What the POSH® Sale is to fashion, POSH® Interiors is to the home; shop for fantastic home accessories and collectibles from November 13 -15, 2008.

  • The President's Circle: Join the President's Circle and meet us at the movies! When you become a member of The President's Circle, we'll reserve your invitation to advance screenings of major motion pictures as a special membership privilege.
