Eleanor E. Faye, M.D., FACS Biography
Medical Director
Dr. Eleanor E. Faye has been affiliated with Lighthouse International since 1956. She has served as the Medical Director since January of 2006, and previously served as the Director of the Lighthouse Low Vision Service from 1965 through 1992. In addition, she has served as Ophthalmologic Advisor to the Lighthouse Center for Education from 1994 to present. Dr. Faye is internationally recognized as a leader in low vision. She is the author of numerous publications, and her book, Clinical Low Vision (Boston: Little Brown & Co., 1994) went into its second edition, and has become a classic text on low vision. Dr. Faye's numerous accolades and awards include two Merit Awards from the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the Distinguished Service Award from the American Optometric Association, and an Honorary Doctor of Science from the State University of New York College of Optometry.
