A Medicare Milestone: Demonstration Project Provides Reimbursement for Vision Rehabilitation Services

Lighthouse International is pleased to announce that a Low Vision Rehabilitation Demonstration Project has been authorized by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. This breakthrough provides services beyond the initial low vision evaluation and, for the first time, reimburses certified vision rehabilitation professionals who will offer services onsite at Lighthouse International or in people's homes.

The project adds a new dimension to traditional low vision services, providing payment for additional rehabilitation services that enable people with vision loss to preserve their quality of life. Vision rehabilitation services equip people who are partially sighted or blind with the skills and strategies to remain safe, independent and active at any stage of life.
