About Our Website
Back in December of 2008, Lighthouse International made the decision to redesign its web presence. After searching for the perfect firm with which to partner, we found the wonderful team at Happy Cog East: a group that could deal with both our massive information architecture (at the time the site had over 1,000 pages) and with the unique challenges of designing a website that needed to be as accessible as humanly possible to people who were visually impaired.
The site you're visiting is the product of that partnership. Lighthouse.org now boasts greatly improved navigation, an entirely new visual design, and a host of new interactive features.
During the course of our redesign, we did everything we could to make this site as accessible as possible while reaching the widest possible audience -- but not everybody has the same accessibility needs. No website can be accessible to all people, all the time -- but the effort needs to be there to make sure everyone - whether visually impaired or not - has equal access to information.
